Administrator account without license

Hello,

usually when we setup a new M-Files environment we create a new Administrator Login Account with a Named License,

this allows us to access the environment, use the API etc.

Some customers do not like that we take up one of their licenses.

Is there a better way to do this?

  • That is quite often a problem - especially with smaller customers where 1 additional license adds a relatively high amount to the price.

    I have sometimes left the admin account without a license in normal operations. When on the odd occasion you need access as admin you can open Admin, check login accounts and see who is currently logged in. You should be able to spot an account not in use at the time and borrow that license. You only need it long enough to log yourself in, you can give it back immediately thereafter because the admin account will work under that same license until you log out from the vault or disconnect Admin from the server.
