Update Managed Properties in Background

There should be a request already created for this: 158115. It would be interesting to know what is a status for this one.

Will this be considered in the next time? I'm having a massive problem with managed properties as document creation eventually takes minutes.. Also I remember some setting for controlling the update depth (how many levels of relations to update) but I cannot find it..

I don't have any news to share about possible enhancements. You can read about the module's performance implications in chapter 4.2.4 of the functional description.

we solved this issue with our Extension Kit VAF application. Extension Kit is an event-based VAF that lets you react to events with certain M-Files operations grouped by modules. Rules are configured in the VAF configuration editor (no VB scripts are needed). We currently support the triggers: Object created, object changed, object entered state, etc.

Every rule in Extension Kit can be executed in the event handler or in the background. You could use the Extended property operations module to configure your case that will execute in the background.

From what I read I really like Extension Kit and I think it would be the ideal addition for M-Files but sadly cannot afford.. So I'll have to look for a different approach.. Maybe I could implement managed properties with Event Handler Script..

I'm evaluating Extension Kit and trying your suggestion, but is it really possible to create a backlink with this module?

Object 1 refers to Object 2

Object 2 should refer to Object 1 automatically

Ideally with the same property on both Objects (let's name it "Belongs To").. Both Object 1 and Object 2 are from the same Object Type (let's say both are Documents)..
