How To Detect & Avoid Creating Duplicate Content

M-Files automatically detects if there are documents with identical file contents in a vault. M-Files shows the file content matches for existing and new documents. You can see only the duplicate files that you have rights to. The duplicate files can have a different file name, different related objects, version history, permissions, workflow, and other document data when compared to each other. The duplicate detection works with all file types, for example text files, pictures, and ZIP files.

Does your M-Files look different? - This video features the latest M-Files user interface (released in November 2022). Please note that the lessons in this video still apply.

  • TIP: You can search for all the documents that have duplicates in a vault. When you open the Search Options and use the Additional Conditions, you will find the "show duplicates only" option in the Files tab. And if there's a need to keep a closer eye of duplicates in a vault, creating a view to show them would do the trick.
