I'm not familiar with this particular solution but usually these would be set up as an identity provider for federated authentication. After that the whole authentication process happens via the external IdP and any multi-factor authentication etc. can take place.
The preferred protocol to use would be OpenID Connect / OAuth 2.0 but if that's not supported by Cisco Duo then SAML 2.0 can also still be used even though it has been deprecated in M-Files and is not supported on M-Files Mobile.
