Important Update: M-Files Remains Secure and Unaffected by Recently Identified Microsoft SharePoint Vulnerability

Recently identified vulnerability within on-premises environments of Microsoft's SharePoint application

M-Files remains completely secure and unaffected by the recent discovery of a security vulnerability within on-premises environments of Microsoft's SharePoint application. M-Files on-premises deployments do not utilize SharePoint environments.

M-Files' recently announced unified offering with Microsoft is also unaffected. The joint solution utilizes the API-only SharePoint Embedded service, a cloud-based technology unrelated to the impacted SharePoint environments.

If you are using on-premises environments of Microsoft's SharePoint application, please read about the vulnerability solution in Microsoft News.

More about our new native Microsoft 365 cloud solution

We introduced the new solution in early July to unlock native Microsoft 365 capabilities for M-Files AI-curated content, including agentic experiences delivered by Microsoft 365 Copilot and M-Files Aino. This solution provides unified security and compliance: M-Files content stays within the Microsoft 365 security boundary while leveraging organization-wide compliance and governance policies defined by Microsoft Purview.

Read more about the business benefits and capabilities: M-Files & Microsoft 365.

The new solution is live and available for M-Files Cloud customers with a Microsoft 365 subscription. Detailed instructions on enabling the native solution will be provided in August.

We’re available anytime if you’d like to learn more about our new solution.

  • Question: with the API-only SharePoint Embedded service, are M-Files access rules & controls still applying the same? I mean that all permissions and access rights configured in M-Files still prevail to M365 and SharePoint access rules. In other words, by integrating to M365 I'm not exposing M-Files content to unauthorized users.
