Introducing the 2026 M-Files Platform Packages

Introducing the 2026 M-Files Platform Packages

To better reflect how organizations adopt and grow with document management, M‑Files has introduced the new 2026 Platform Packages, designed around customer maturity, governance needs, and AI adoption.

This update reflects extensive market insights and feedback from customers and partners worldwide. The new packages simplify how M-Files is purchased and expanded, make AI and Microsoft-native capabilities foundational in the cloud, and provide clearer upgrade paths as organizational needs evolve.

The new platform packages are available now.

Why This Change

The 2026 Platform Packages are designed to:

  • Simplify how capabilities are grouped across platform levels
  • Make it easier to select the right starting point
  • Enable more natural adoption of AI, automation, and Microsoft‑native experiences
  • Provide clearer differentiation between cloud and self‑hosted deployments

The 2026 Platform Packages

M-Files now offers a structured set of cloud and self‑hosted platform options.

Cloud packages

Cloud is our standard and preferred deployment model, where innovation in AI and Microsoft-native experiences continues to accelerate.

  • Essentials – Core document management, collaboration, and automation for less complex needs
  • Enterprise – Advanced governance, compliance, automation, and security for larger and more complex environments
  • Foundation – A structured, lower‑complexity path to the cloud for existing self‑hosted customers

Across all cloud packages:

  • AI (M-Files Aino) is included
  • Microsoft‑native capabilities are built in
  • Clear upgrade paths support long‑term growth

Self-hosted packages (where required)

For organizations with strict regulatory or deployment requirements, self‑hosted options remain available.

  • Core (Self‑Hosted) – Enhanced baseline capabilities
  • Advanced (Self‑Hosted) – Expanded governance, security, audit, and workflow capabilities

Self‑hosted packages do not include AI (Aino) or Microsoft‑native cloud capabilities, which remain exclusive to cloud deployments.

What This Means for You

  • A simpler, more intuitive way to understand and adopt M‑Files
  • Built‑in access to AI and Microsoft‑native innovation in the cloud
  • Clear upgrade paths as your needs evolve
  • No forced migrations — customers on 2020 and 2025 editions can continue to renew and transition when it aligns with their priorities

Why Consider Moving to the 2026 Platform Packages?

Customers on 2020 and 2025 editions can continue to renew and expand—there are no forced migrations. However, the 2026 Platform Packages are designed to better support long-term innovation and growth.

Organizations choosing to transition gain:

  • AI as a foundational capability in every cloud tier
  • Stronger Microsoft-native alignment
  • Simpler, maturity-based packaging aligned to governance and AI readiness

For customers planning deeper AI adoption, greater automation, or expanded governance capabilities, the 2026 Platform Packages provide a future-ready foundation.
