Updating common document elements in bulk

Hi, we have a prospective customer who requires a solution to reduce manual updating across a catalogue of heavy machinery service instructions.

The customer’s service instruction documents are a combination of text, tables and images. Because many of the text, tables and images are common across multiple service instruction documents, they are seeking a solution that can update all of the text statements/tables/images where they are common across multiple documents. In other words, update certain elements of documents in bulk.

For example, the table below appears in all service documents. Currently each individual document needs to be manually updated if any of the text requires updating.

We have been considering using the Extension Kit Document Processor module to merge smaller Word documents containing individual document elements (i.e. text statements, tables) to create master service instruction documents. This may allow the individual document elements to be updated as needed, then re-merged into existing master service instruction documents. But this would still be a labour-intensive process and we are wondering if there is a better way.

Another option may be using Ment to hold the text statements and tables within the clause library to help with rapid document generation, however we are yet to look at this option in detail. If anyone has any advice on how this use case could be addressed I would love to hear from you!
