Is there a way to periodically destroy deleted objects without having to do it manually?

My company deletes lots of objects and we wait a year from deletion to destroy the object. Is the a document that can show us how to automate this task.

  • We don't have ready step-by-step instructions for this, but you should be able to use the Content Replication and Archiving feature. Basically you would set an export filter with flag "Deleted = Yes" and another condition for the deleted date (must be over 365 days ago). Then under the export settings you would enable the option "Destroy exported objects after export".

By scheduling this export to happen on a certain interval, M-Files would export the deleted objects into a content package on disk and then destroy the objects from the vault. You would still need to somehow (either manually or with a script) delete the content package from disk after this to get rid of the objects for good.
