Ability to add a document by browsing your files from within M-Files

Hello,

We have Requests where users have to attach 'supporting documents'.

Although there are many ways to add documents to M-Files (drag-and-drop from files; add from within an app, right click to add etc.), one of the ‘criticisms’ our users have is that they cannot browse for the supporting document themselves directly from the Request.

In some applications, for example, you can attach/add a document directly by browsing for it from your computer. There is normally something like a ‘paperclip’ icon to indicate this.

In M-Files, we have the ‘add value’ option but this only lets the user add a new (blank) document – it doesn’t allow them to browse from their files.

I would like to suggest to M-Files to consider such an option at some point.

Thank you.

Patrick.

  • Patrick, I have also posed this question a few years ago (more than once)!  We find it extremely strange that there isn't a "browse" button directly in M-Files to upload a document!  Especially since this is a document management system. The classic web client does have an upload option so I don't know why it's been depreciated.  I would love to hear the reason why this isn't a standard feature.  We understand there are other ways to upload, such as, drag and drop or right click on a file and select Add to M-Files, but this requires to you minimize the app to drag and drop or leave the app to use the right click on a file to add.  Not very user friendly and extra clicks. Please add us to the feature request.  Thank You
