Drag and drop email from Outlook to M-Files

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone have encountered same issue as mine.

This is about when I do drag and drop email(s) from Outlook to M-Files. I noticed that when I drag an drop an email with the same subject to M-Files, a pop-up notification from Windows saying "The destination already has a file named ------ ". Is there any way to automatically ignore this after drag and drop and allow dragged emails to directly be copied with suffix or something without the notification?

Please see my attached image for sample.

Thanks in advance.

  • I wouldn't drag and drop....

I would instead recommend use the M-Files add-in from Outlook to save into M-Files (Right Click > save to M-Files)
In the metadata - if the original email is already in M-Files, I believe it has a hidden ID, and should display a property of "Reply To"

If it doesn't, you can also manually add it and tag the value of the original email to create a relationship to it.

When you drag and drop a email drag from Outlook drag to a free space in M-Files .

May be in your case you will be dragging and placing the mail on the existing data.

    Please try :
