Preview a VLC format File in M-Files

Hi Forum,

Does anyone know if it is possible in M-Files to view VLC files without having to check out or open the document?

Ideally our users can select the file, and use both the "Metadata" and "Preview" buttons.

At the moment I receive this message in M-Files: Any tips or help would be appreciated - Many thanks!

  • It is also possible to convert documents into PDF before previewing so you show pdf there. You would need to configure it in client registry. Probably would solve you problem with preview of unsupported type. Don't have this registry settings by hand but could find it and post it if you need it

  • Thanks we were able to find a good solution here. Windows Media player has to be set as the default program for videos. The initial media quality is not great, but once play is selected in the preview window the quality is refined and the end user experience is a very acceptable one. If you want to see a demo please reach out to me. Happy to share the lesson learnt here. :)
