Changing the default icon for M-Files client

Hi!

Is it possible to "easily" change the default icon for the M-Files client shortcut? (Preferably in a way that can be pushed via GPO or intune)

Right-clicking on the M-Files desktop shortcut and checking the icon location I find %SystemRoot%\Installer\{169CF129-5C33-5781-B9A8-4FF0D43DF791}\Icon32210CB2.ico

Would it somehow be possible to craft an ico file with the same name but with other icons, just replace the file with the same name and expect it to work?

Best regards, Frederik

  • Ahhhh, well it appears that if you open the ico file that the client shortcut uses, you are exposed to a couple of different icon files:

If you export any of these, modify them in an editor, re-add them with the same ID to the file and restart the M-Files client, you get a fresh new icon in the task bar!

  • And I suppose if you modify the other ico files in the %SystemRoot%\Installer\{169CF129-5C33-5781-B9A8-4FF0D43DF791}\ directory you can achieve a similar result with the tray and windows explorer icons.
