Working with documents connected with project

Hi,

is it possible to create hub for browsing within project documents using Explorer widget?

The use case is following, similar to browsing folder structure: the widget shows all Projects (OT in the vault structure); I would like to click on specific project and display documents from vault connected with this project. Is it possible to construct hub with this functionality?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

I would surely recommend you to use the Views widget for this. You would like to create a view grouping documents by Hubs and then by Projects.

Then, your widget should be configured in a way it selects automatically the right hub virtual folders depending on the hub visited. A list of all projects mapped to this hub will then be listed to the end-users, and allowing to browse the documents by project (search bar to search across projects can be used as well).

Does it seem to answer your need?

Happy to help further if needed

    Best regards

  • Thank you very much, the view mode is right solution, I missed this mode.

I´ve just replayed recorded Technical Training. It is really great video series! Do you plan to update it with new features?

  • Hi PetrK,

Great to hear, happy to help you. Overall, Views widget comes by design with the strengths of M-Files views, and for this reason, this is at least to me the preferred solution by default when implementing M-Files widgets in Hubshare. Explorer widget has some advantages too, especially, a faster configuration, but when it comes to load different content per hubs dynamically based on the hub visited, views is the way.

We indeed have at M-Files continuous improvements of our training and academy materials. We are about to start working on massive changes for Hubshare (more communications to come) and these changes will be enablers for a lot of features we are missing today and would like to bring to our customers in 2026. So naturally, we can expect new content in the academy to come.

    Stay tuned.
