M-Files Opening in File Explorer

Hi there

Several users are encountering issues - with opening M-Files in File Explorer. While we know that uninstalling and reinstalling the application resolves the problem, I'm interested to know what might be the underlying root cause behind it?

This is how the M-Files view looks when we open a Vault.

Thanks

  • I believe this issue may occur if an M-Files service or process such as MFClient or MFStatus (M-Files Desktop Agent) is not running or is experiencing a malfunction. As an initial troubleshooting step prior to reinstalling M-Files Desktop, you can try restarting MFClient via Task Manager or simply rebooting the client machine. You should also make sure that MFStatus is running

Sometimes for instance anti-virus software may prevent these from operating in the normal way. The user guide has information on M-Files and Virus Scanning.

If this keeps happening and you cannot figure out the reason, I suggest reaching out to your M-Files reseller for further investigation.
