Automatic change the state of a workflow based on the state of another workflow

Hello all,

Is it possible to change the state of a workflow based on the state of another workflow?

For this project, we have a Project object and a workflow for it. A predetermined set of documents will be created for this project, and these documents will have their own workflows. As the document workflows advance, we would like to automatically advance the Project workflow as well.
