Drag and Drop to Outlook changed with update 22.2.11149.3

Hi everyone

We just did the update to the newest version and realized that M-Files is handling mails from Outlook differently. When we use the plugin, everything works fine. But when we just drag and drop, the properties "email from" and "email to" do not get populated. In earlier versions, this worked fine.

Off course, we could use M-Files Folders in Outlook oder the plugin, but a lot of people are using drag and drop.

When we drag and drop a mail to M-Files, it takes the class of the view and some other properties, but not the mail addresses.

Does anyone knows a solution for this problem? Is the drag and drop function customizable?

Thanks for the help!

Christian

  • It seems there was a regression regarding automatic metadata filling after drag-drop operation in the February release, the related issue ID is 162631. Our product team is currently investigating and hopefully will be able to implement a fix soon, the issue ID will be mentioned in the release notes after the fix has been released.

  • Hello,

this issue is still open and not solved yet. Our customers are requesting serveral times when this will be fixed. Also some of our new customers are really missing this feature.

Are there any updates to this topic? How is priority set at the moment?

For example, I can ask by support to add all our customers on this request to make it visible as important bug for R&D -  that it has to be fixed in time.

    best regards,

    Simon

  • Typically the fix/implementation time frames vary depending on several factors, like the importance of a fix/new feature, the complexity of the implementation, and how many customers have requested for the feature or reported the issue to affect their operations. If you are aware of some issue, please report those via support request so they will then be listed in the issue report.

M-Files Product Development constantly evaluates and prioritizes the open issues based on those kinds of criteria. For example, the issues that might compromise security are fixed asap regardless of how many customers (even none, if we notice something like this ourselves) have reported the problem, while the priority of usability improvements or new features that are not specified in our own development road maps is affected more by the number of customers who request for them, and may take months or longer to implement, if they don't get much attention from customers.

We will inform you of system issue fixes and improvements in release notes with the issue ID on our website here: www.m-files.com/release-notes.
