Why am I unable to click on properties of a vault? [M-Files 2018 (19.8.8114.8)]

This relates to M-Files 2018 (19.8.8114.8)

I'm in the process of moving M-Files from an old server to a new one. I'm following the instructions from:

Step #9 (Copy search indexes from old server to new server) says to right-click on a vault and select properties. When I do that, I get a popup stating "Access denied. Your license type does not allow this operation". I was able to locate the indexes without using this, but why can't I look at the vault properties? While I probably won't need to change any of the settings, I would feel better knowing that I could.

  • I don't really remember details about that specific version but if you can't click it might be the user you logged in to M-files Admin does not have enough rights.

You can Create a new connection to the server with using the account you installed M-Files server with. That user will surely have admin role and you can give your own user administrative rights to do the operations.

  • Ahah! The obvious. Thank you. I was logged into the server as a server admin and that login id doesn't have an M-Files license. Logged back in using my personal login, which does have an M-Files license, and I was able to view the properties. Thanks!
