Traditional Folders See/View permissions

Hello Community and friends. In working on migrating content into M-Files with a client, it is the desire to ease the process on *some* of their users to let go of the sempiternal folder structure by keeping the legacy path in traditional folders... temporarily! I am not after starting a debate about the topic of traditional folder, we all know they are less than ideal.

Instead, I am really looking for a way to limit which users can see them Traditional Folders, so that we do not blurry the vision of early adopters...

I know another thread in this Forum is covering the fact that the top-level folder can be permission controlled to limit access... but the property would still be seen on all imported documents.

What I was hoping to benefit from was either:

  • a user setting similar to "User cannot create or modify traditional folders" but covering the read aspect,
  • or a way to restrict the permissions at the property (ID #34) "Traditional Folder". This appears greyed out, you-out-of-luck type of scenario.

Any previous or current thoughts on the topic by anybody?

  • Well, you can go to value lists and click "show built-in lists" and you can see "Traditional Folders" list in there.

You can manually edit every folders visibility permissions over there just like you can do for any list item...But I guess that the traditional folders list will a bit long and the process can be soul draining :\
