Upgrade from 12.0.6550.8 to stable release

Question

We are currently running the above M-files Admin and client version, looks like its the release from 2018 but now are are looking to upgrade to the next stable/latest release.

Since Im new to M-File, what are the recommended version for the upgrade and what are the best practice for the upgrade. TY

You can typically upgrade directly to the latest M-Files release. 
 Please review Upgrade Paths for Older Versions of M-Files for the recommended upgrade process, ensure you have verified backups before starting, and confirm that your environment meets the current system requirements .
