Hi. Any idea how to rename a file based on a metadata. Thx in advance.
The M-Files Community will be updated on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM EST / 2:00 PM GMT and the update is expected to last for several hours. The site will be unavailable during this time.
Create a text property that uses the "Automatic Values" - here you can select the appropriate metadata properties you want to use in the calculation of the name.
Then add this newly created property to the class and check the box that it should be used to 'set the name'.
Hi Jen
Thanks for the tip. I just have a quick question. I was working on creating a workflow for a DocuSign and when Files enter the workflow, the document Title will need to be automatically renamed based upon the value of its metadata. My question is where do I find the below dialog box in M-Files?
Thanks again
In the admin -if this field is net new then you can click on "New Property Definitions" under the Metadata Structure (Flat View), create the name and Data type of "Text", then click on the second tab at the top called "Automatic Values". IF this property already exists, then locate it and right click and select properties to get to this screen.
The user guide has more information about automatic values: www.m-files.com/.../Automatic_values.html
