Dear Customers,
We are happy to share that M-Files for Outlook version 1.1 has been released.
What's New?
- The installer now prompts the user to close Outlook before proceeding with the installation. Furthermore, the installer adds the add-in to the resiliency list, thereby preventing Outlook from disabling this add-in on its own.
- Improvements have been made to the start-up times for M-Files for Outlook. The performance of syncing categories has also seen an increase. An issue concerning a null reference exception when filing emails has been addressed. A timeout has been introduced when saving an email to avoid Outlook locking up for an extended period of time.
- Improvements have been made to error handling and error display. A problem in the suggestion service, which could lock when an email chain is changed, has been fixed. Automatic filing now has the capacity to file from the Sent folder.
- A problem that caused slowness when trying to save an email has been addressed. Improvements in performance have been made around the delta sync service. The feature "Save attachments to existing M-Files objects" is now functioning as intended.
- The add-in no longer gets stuck in an infinite loading screen if the M-Files Client is disabled. When saving a duplicate attachment with the "save attachment only" option, the system will now properly trigger duplicate detection. Saving an email with the "Show metadata card for email" option should no longer cause freezing.
- An issue that caused Outlook to crash when the "Automatically save all replies" feature was used in conjunction with the "Show metadata card for attachments" options has been addressed. Additionally, an issue with synced emails not properly receiving a tag has been addressed.
- Another problem that prevented the "Save all previous messages in this conversation" feature from saving emails from Outlook's Sent folder has also been addressed. The metadata card should no longer appear if the "show metadata card for attachments/email" options are unselected.
- Lastly, the add-in is now properly branded and is consistently referred to as M-Files for Outlook across all platforms.
Additional Configuration Required
In the previous version of our software, the properties associated with your filing objects were automatically integrated into your Emails, without any verification process considering the specific class configuration. This may have led to some issues, as the system was applying default properties without considering the unique setup of your filing objects.
Recognizing this, we've made improvements in the latest version. Now, our system is more discerning. In the 1.1 update, it checks your class configuration before integrating properties of the filing objects. If you have specific properties related to filing object types in your Email, Email Configuration, or attachment class, our system will now acknowledge and apply them as needed. This enhancement ensures a more personalized and efficient usage experience.
