M-Files Hubshare Release
September 2024 release of Hubshare (v5.0.8) is next coming major release and we are happy to announce and detail the content of this release today!
New capabilities and major changes
Widget charts: new mode added with Bar, Line and Radar
Last month, we introduced an exciting new feature in M-Files: the chart widget. While the initial version allowed the creation of Proportion charts (Pie, Doughnut, Polar), we are now thrilled to announce the release of the Series mode, which includes Bar, Line, and Radar charts.
To demonstrate these new capabilities, please find the below image. You will see a list of commercial opportunity objects displayed in the first widget. Based on this list, multiple visualization widgets are shown to provide better support.
We are eager to see how our partner community and customers will utilize these new features. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any feedback or questions.
Hubshare annotations and M-Files annotations should work together
We are excited to announce that the M-Files annotation system will now be integrated into Hubshare with the upcoming release. Previously unused in Hubshare, this new feature will allow annotations made on documents in Hubshare to be saved as Annotation objects in M-Files, preserving the original file without converting it to PDF.
This update also enhances the convenience of interacting with multiple annotation files. For example, M-Files users can annotate a Contract PDF document, while end-users in Hubshare can work on a separate annotation file. Both sets of annotations will be seamlessly combined and displayed in Hubshare.

File extensions should be displayed in M-Files listing widgets
We heard our customers expecting to see the file extensions being displayed along with the file names. We now have the file extensions always displayed in the listing of documents, but also in the CSV export, the activities, etc. Small change but surely something you will appreciate.
Improving the export / import system to make it clear when something is happening during the export phase
Last year in 2023 we introduced the export/import hub configuration system that most of you are now using. This feature is an important part of Hubshare now and we did a lot of improvements during the year to make it more robust, easy to use and consistent. Still, one major problem still exists. Basically, when you export a hub configuration, you don't know today if an error happened to one or to multiple widgets during the export. The end result is that the export hub configuration file could eventually be partial, resulting in the wrong outcome afterward when importing the hub configuration.
With the coming version of Hubshare, we introduced a new error system to better and clearly inform the operator in Hubshare doing the export of the hub configuration that something happened and apparently it will not be possible to even download the .hub file because of at least one problem happening.
Differentiation between being allowed to "Create object" and "Upload document" in the Explorer and Views widgets
This improvement has been requested multiple times by our partners and customers. Today, it's not possible to differentiate the rights of Uploading a document and Create a new document. With the coming release you will have different options to get this flexibility.
Mobile and tablet user experience improved
We also worked hard with the team to make the user experience improve on mobile and tablet usages. We mainly covered the M-Files connected widgets (listing, creator, and object property modal) to make sure that it's possible to use Hubshare on mobile devices and do operate the most important tasks the end-users would like to do on these devices.
MyHubs: hubs with similar names cannot be distinguish
Small improvement to make sure it's possible to distinguish hubs with long and similar name.
