I've been pulling my hair out with this one for a couple of months.
Essentially client 'must' have everything pulled in. Insurance, so there are about 400-500 types of documents. We imported items in as 'Unmanaged Documents' with the hopes that they'd clean as they go.
We've gotten to the point where the customer just wants their old folder structure, but automated.
ie
- Client Files (Object One of Client Or Document; Group by Client
- <List of Clients>
- Years
- Nested folders they MUST have
- Applications
- New business apps
- Provincial auto apps
- EC DEV apps
- Trinity Apps
- Renewal notice attachments
- New business apps
- Auto & Garage
- B&M
- CGL
- Checklists
- ...
- Years
- <List of Clients>
I was hoping we could do a view of
- Documents
- Group By Client
- Group by Year
- Group by Class Group
- Group By Class
- Group by Class Group
- Group by Year
- Group By Client
However, that does not go 'deep enough' and they toss a dozen different kinds of documents into these folders.
I then figured, well we could just let them put metadata of [Client], [Year] and do a [Filing Path]
However, I cannot get the View to do the same nesting as the Traditional folder, it just dumps them all.
So I figured, fine, I'll go and individually create views:
However, If I go into this view and create another view for the Sub Paths, the parent filter of "Application & Submission Documents" filters out the child Filing Path = 'BLANK New Business Applications', because the Parent Filter for Application & Submission Documents is not set on both.
I need a way to get the net result of controlled documents, that can follow their desired scheme by client that can go 3-4 additional folders deep, and it has become inflexible, that it must be this way.
