Power BI, consume Excel store in M-Files

Hello, 
 
 We have a customer that will migrate from Sharepoint to M-Files as a DMS solutions. 
 They need the following functionality, as in getting data from excel files stored in M-Files, similar to how they got the information from the excel when it was stored in sharepoint. 
 Is there a way to do that?

Unfortunately I don't think that PowerBI can access files stored in M-Files. 
 The only way I can think of is to maintain a copy somewhere that PowerBI can access (e.g. an Azure file share?). This copy could be maintained via event handlers (new file version = update the file in Azure).
