Class Permission vs Workflow State Permission

Hi all, let's say that I created an automatic permission for invoice class where the Finance manager has the full rights for this invoice class.

However, I have also set up the invoice processing workflow and let's say for example, during the draft state, I have set that only the creator will be able to edit the document meanwhile all the internal users set to read only.

Now, I have 2 conflicting permissions as I have given the Full Access to finance manager within the class level. Does the workflow state permission override the class automatic permission ? Or, does the Finance manager will still have the full access even though I have set up the internal users as read only ?

  • we avoid those situations by setting the access rights mainly by workflows.
Only if there is no workflow that automatically will be assigned to a specific object we use class based permissions.
This way you will always have full control on who can see or access what. Furthermore - since only one place is used to set permissions - you will have less problems with adjusting those rights if needed.
