VAF C# copy Object AND set workflow state

If you edit the newObjectPropertyValues to have the correct workflow and state before cloning that should do the trick.

The workflow and state properties are just property values on the object.  If you ensure that your "newObjectPropertyValues" collection includes valid values for these properties then the copied object would end up in the correct workflow/state.

If you're using the VAF Extensions then there is an ObjVerEx.CreateCopy extension method which you may find makes this much easier.  It takes a set of instructions that you could use to overwrite the workflow and state properties with the values you need.

Is workflow and state a regular property?

I'm able to set properties like Keywords etc.  this way

newObjectPropertyValues.SetProperty((int)MFBuiltInPropertyDef.MFBuiltInPropertyDefKeywords, MFDataType.MFDatatypeText, "ABC");

but not workflow and state. I figure the state would be MFBuiltInPropertyDefState 39 but what's the MFDataType?

object would be the MFIdentifier?

If you are using the plain COM API approach (not the extension method I linked to above) then you would need to populate the collection using the various methods that the API expose: M-Files API - PropertyValues Collection

In short: you would create two PropertyValue instances (one to represent the workflow, and one the state), and populate them with appropriate values.  You would then add them to the collection.  There's an example of creating a single property value for the state here: Updating objects with the COM API (m-files.com)
