New Outlook - supported or wait until September?

Are current versions of M-FIles compatible with the New Outlook (normal integration, not advanced) or is it incompatible until the new connector comes out in September?

Is it recommended that users not upgrade to the New Outlook until then?

Thanks

  • None of the currently available Outlook integrations (standard or advanced) work with New Outlook as Microsoft switched the underlying add-in technology. Please refer to Product Guide for M-Files Outlook Integrations for more information, including the roadmap for the new integrations that are compatible with New Outlook.

  • Thanks, can you confirm if my understanding of the old names, and new names, and new functionality and compatibility is correct?

    Old names

M-Files Outlook Standard - the basic integration that activates when you install M-Files desktop
M-Files for Outlook - more advanced separate plugin
M-Files Advanced Outlook Add-in - even more advanced separate plugin

    New names

M-Files for Outlook Lite - The new name for M-Files Outlook Standard for the New Outlook
M-Files for Outlook Pro (COM-based) - The new name for M-Files for Outlook for the old/classic Outlook
M-Files for Outlook Pro (web-based) - The new name for M-Files for Outlook for the New Outlook. Seems to combine some features from the M-Files for Outlook and M-Files Advanced.

No direct replacement for M-Files Advanced Outlook Add-in

  • Otherwise correct, except M-Files Advanced Outlook Add-in was replaced by M-Files for Outlook so they are comparable products. M-Files Advanced Outlook Add-in was developed by a third party while M-Files for Outlook was later developed in-house at M-Files, that's the reason why these two separate products exist.

M-Files Advanced Outlook Add-In will be deprecated December 31, 2024 and customers currently using it are expected to move to M-Files for Outlook Pro (web-based) once it is available.
