Share multiple files via visitor link?

I have seen a few other posts asking the same question but, the answers have been a little unclear. Some options are as follows:

- Zip File

- API

My question lies in the Admin side where you can allow "all internal users" or "all internal and external users", if you switch it to external users, will it allow you to create a visitor link for multiple files?

  • The object permissions (for instance, granting access to the "All internal and external users" group) do not affect visitor link behavior, they control who can find the object logged into M-Files. In other words people who have an M-Files user account in the vault. External users in the group name refer to M-Files user accounts that have been designed as external, there's a description of this on the user guide page Creating a User.

Visitor links, on the other hand, are designed for sharing documents to people who do not have access to M-Files. User guide has more information on this under Sharing Content.

  • Joonas,

Thank you for your reply. For the visitor links, what can I do to have multiple documents under one visitor link?

• At the moment I think you'll need to, for instance, zip the files and share the zip package via a visitor link. We have plans to improve the sharing options in the near future so hopefully sharing multiple docs at once will become possible then.

If you are continuously collaborating with the same external parties, you might want to consider Hubshare instead. Hubshare portal would also enable the external parties to upload files to M-Files.

  • Thank you for that information! Yes, we do have Hubshare but some external parties prefer a link. I will give the zip file a try!
