Direct Document Storage in M-Files via Generated Links

Is there a way to save documents generated via links directly into M-Files without additional steps?

  • Can you explain what you mean about "documents generated via links"?  Which links?

(sorry if this is an obvious question - I've not had a lot of sleep!)

  • Hi Craig, thanks for your response. I should mention that this is about M-Files Ment. When creating a template that doesn’t work with metadata, there’s an option to send a link to people who need to fill out the template. The completed document then ends up in the archive of M-Files Ment.

  • Aha, now I understand.

I'm not sure. I was involved in the initial design and development of the integration, but that required an M-Files user to be the one filling the questionnaire, which is I think still the case right now.

I know that this has been discussed as a use-case but I'm not aware of anything specific. I'll reach out to the PO for Ment and see whether I can get more details.

  • Thank you for your quick response Craig. Is it possible, that you write me a private message, because I cant. I am currently working on my bachelor’s thesis about M-Files Ment and still have some additional questions about Ment.

  • Hi Julian,

I can confirm that it is still not possible to generate any documents directly to M-Files with M-Files Ment without being authenticated to the M-Files Ment. Therefore, the links and widgets features do not allow direct saving to M-Files, and are not available for templates integrated with M-Files.

As Craig mentioned, this is something that we are aware of as a use-case, but we currently have other things we are working on. This is something we will look later into.
