M-Files Importer: is there a way to preserve already existing files in a mfd that are not included in the data file?

Hello.

I'm using M-Files Importer for monitoring files that have changed in a source folder. The modified files are updated with the new ones under a multifile document in M-Files. For this I'm using monitoring settings and duplicate detection. The data file is a csv file with the files that I want to monitor. I'm using task scheduler for running the importer.

However, I realized that if the multifile document has manually added files that are not being monitored, they get deleted after the importer updates the monitored files.

Is there a way to preserve those files without having to add them to the data file?

Thank you.

  • M-Files Importer does not support appending files to a multi-file document unfortunately. Only the files that Importer uploads are kept in the new document version. These manually added files should likely be stored as separate documents and not added to the same MFD.
