Class Groups Permissions for 'all internal users' not working

I have a 12 class groups with permission set to 'all internal users' who can see the class group.  The Document object also has 'all internal users' set as the permission.

This is not working.  Users can only see 3 of the 12 class groups which are all set to the same permissions level of 'all internal users'.

Adding a specific user to the permissions for all 12 class groups results in the same 3 classes being visible.

Please advise on a solution to this.

Thank you.

  • Hi there! A couple items come to mind.

First, on the permissions tab for each of the impacted classes' properties you need to make sure that the "Allow users to attach objects to this class" setting is enabled, without this, users won't be allowed to create the class and this can prevent it from displaying in the document creation list. (Heres a reference in the User Guide: https://www.m-files.com/user-guide/latest/eng/Permissions_and_Default_permissions.html#permissions_and_automatic_permissions)

Second thing to check is to confirm the 'See this class group' option is set to Allow on the Class group permissions tab within the Class Group Properties. (Here's a reference in the User Guide: https://www.m-files.com/user-guide/latest/eng/adjusting_permissions-3.html)

Are you by chance using Deny on any user groups in the permissions? Deny settings will supersede any allow provided for that specific permission setting.

Another thing to keep in mind with respect to troubleshoot items like is it is often necessary to fully log out and back in to the vault when permissions adjustments like this are being applied.

Lastly, don't be afraid to reach out to support on this, often, cases like this getting eyes on the configuration allows us to better identify what the root cause of the behavior is.  Please let me know if any of what I've recommended has assisted you, thanks for posting and please don't be a stranger!
