Attaching a link into MS Teams

Hi ya,

quick question,

some users would like to add links into MS Teams chats to files that are stored in M-Files. I know you can get the hyperlink and paste it in.  like below

but I noticed that when you chat after the link has been posted the Desktop link is not clickable any more.  Classic Web still works, but we don't want users using this option.

If you try and edit the link it does not work again, unless you copy and paste the link into M-Files.

Is there a way to make the link still clickable when you paste it in Teams, or anyone got any other ways of working.

thanks

Anthony

  • This is an unfortunate limitation of Microsoft Teams, it only allows http(s) links so the M-Files URLs using m-files:// as the protocol do not work when pasted.

We are planning to move to https links all around in M-Files but this is still on the roadmap and not yet available. In the meantime there is a small UI extension that adds a new "Copy Hyperlink to Clipboard" command to the desktop client's context menu so you can easily get a link that works also in Teams. We are using that also internally until the link enhancements are released.
