Assignment is it possible to "Assign to" user groups as opposed to individual users?

Question

So the scenario is: 
 
 We have a Compliance document that all of our staff have to read and acknowledge that they have read it. Thier acknowledgment is retained for compliance reasons. 
 
 I got the idea that it would be much, much easier to follow who has confirmed (or not) that they have read the document through an Assignment. 
 Is it possible to send an Assignment to an entire User Group (All internal users)? I noticed that PD "Assigned to" only permits individual users? 
 Also then, if this is possible, could each user receive a separate Assignment derived from being on the user group, instead of being on one big Assignment where there could be 100+ other users on it. Then the creator of the Assignment would be able to follow who has marked it complete (or not)

We have a separate add-on module designed exactly for this use case: Compliance Kit - Training Module - Functional Description 
 I would recommend that you consider using that instead of trying to hack something together yourself. The Training module can handle different situations such as new employees getting the learning requirement automatically when they join the company and learning records are also maintained (who has read what). 
 This is a separately licensed add-on, so please check if your subscription includes its use.
