Add Properties in Microsoft Word

Dear All

I am trying to add a property in Microsoft Word. I use the insert property tab in Microsoft Word and import all the properties that I can.

However the challenge is that I cannot add properties that are added based on a rule in the metadata card. For eg. I have a property called Test which is a value list, and this is easily added in Microsoft word using Insert Property in the M-Files tab, now in the metadata card rule I have mentioned that if one of the options in selected in Test, then display properties Test 2, Test 3 and Test 4 on the metadata card. These values are not showing in the Microsoft word insert property Window. Can I add the Unique ID or an Alias manually in Word so that it will display the value once the user checks in the document?

Thank you

  • The simplest solution is to add the properties to the object temporarily, add in the properties using the Word add-in, then remove the properties.

    For example:

    • Check out the object.
    • Use the metadata card to add all possible properties you need to reference.  You may be able to leave the values empty, just make sure the properties exist.
    • Open the file in Word and add the properties.
    • Close the file in Word, save, but do not check in.
    • Remove all the properties you don't need.
    • Check in the object.
