Go back to workflow step

Hello All,

I have created a document validation workflow with several separate tasks, and with step transitions edited according to changes in the metadata, if in any of these steps during the modification of properties made by some of the users involved in the validation cycle someone makes a mistake in the selection of a metadata, once his task is finished this can cause my flow to not work correctly, is there any way to go back in the steps of a workflow? Can I force my document to go back to a desired step of a workflow?

Thanks you very much for your help

  • Admins can always use Change State (Admin) to move an object to any previous or future state. That may be enough to handle the odd error.

If you want to allow normal users to handle the situation themselves you will have to add return transitions to your workflow configuration. You could limit permissions to such return transitions to selected usergroups e.g. supervisors or managers.

You can perhaps use validation scripts to check user input in error prone properties. If that is possible, it will prevent users from entering invalid data.

  • Thank you for your answer.

I have a little problem, when I try to change the state of the document, the dialog box indicates no transition, I do not see the other steps, is it a permissions problem? normally I am an Admin..

    Thank you for your help

  • Hi,

Use this Change state(Admin) button on the left taskbar
