Mfiles Explorer Widget not showing Previews for *.Docm files

Hello
I am setting up an Mfiles Explorer Widget in our Hub. The documents are to be viewed only, not downloaded or printed. Users are to use the preview function. This works perfectly for all documents except those with a *.Docm file extension. For these document no preview appears.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Jamie,

The first thing to do is to double check this page "File Viewer" in the admin settings of hubshare: this helps to understand what is allowed to be opened in the file viewer or not.

For Docm files, apparently, we don't support it yet, at least, the Hubshare product never had to work with such kind of documents and we never included this file extension as part of the known allowed file extension we can use in the file viewer.

The third party library used for the file preview in Hubshare still seems to support this file extension type, so we should be able in one of the following releases to enable this for you, no problem at all.

I'm still interested in knowing more about the use case: what kind of documents do you have as part of your business and when/how Hubshare is used with those documents?

    Best regards

  • Hi Baptiste,

Thanks for the quick response. So these documents within our organisations have been returned to an editable state by Compliance Kit, so that they can be reviewed and then republished. There are also other form based documents that will remain in this format, as they are to be used in a native word environment.

The question, why are they in this format...in the preparation phase of our migration to Mfiles we introduced Macros to improve this efficiency of setting up the footers and the headers with the Mfiles Metadata. So although the Macros are now mostly dormant they are still in the background. Which up until now was never a problem.

Could you advise when the next release will be issued....I just need to identify if I should invest the time revert the documents back to *.docx or if we can be a bit patient and wait for the coming release.

    Regards

    Jamie

  • Hi Jamie,

Thank you for the prompt feedback. Well, you are lucky enough, we were about to wrap up the last changes to incorporate in the next version that will be released by the end of November (v5.0.10.x) and I just asked one of my developer to enable the .docm support for the file viewer.

This is the best I can propose naturally.

I hope it suits you well. The 5.0.10 will be released the 30th November in cloud.

    Regards
