How do you find the Hubshare ID of a User Group?

Hi there,

We have a client where the following is true:

  • In Hubshare a Hubshare User Group has been created of entirely External Users (UserGroup1)
  • In Hubshare UserGroup1 has been added to a Hub
  • In M-Files the Hub object has Employee (Internal) and Contact (External) User properties
  • In M-Files the Hub object has no External Users listed (because in Hubshare, external users are part of UserGroup1)
  • In M-Files there are no Contacts that are listed as Hub Users
  • In M-Files there is no Hubshare User Group that is = UserGroup1

We want to create the Hubshare User Group UserGroup1 in M-Files and pull down the users from Hubshare as Contacts (External) users.

We created the Hubshare User Group Object in M-Files and named it exactly the same as Hubshare. Ran the sync and the Hubshare ID wasn't populated. We've looked in Hubshare to find the Hubshare ID of UserGroup1 but cannot find it anywhere. Is it shown anywhere in Hubshare?

Can we create the User Group in M-Files and have the sync create the Users as Contacts in M-Files, or do you have to create all the Users in M-Files first?

If so, will the UserGroup1 automatically get the Hubshare ID to link it to the existing Hubshare one?

Any help with this is much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

This is a bit tricky. If you already have the user group created to Hubshare, you need to input the Hubshare ID of the group to the group object's metadata card when creating the group in M-Files. To do this, do the following:

    1. Enable Chrome browser DevTool by pressing F12 and open the Network tab (this is used later to read the group ID.

    2. Go to the Setting -> Groups in Hubshare with Chrome browser

    3. Select to edit the group which you are interested of

    4. Go to the DevTools window and copy the group ID from there

    5. Go to M-Files and create the group with the group id added to the metadata card

The M-Files Plugin for Hubshare does not automatically create user objects to M-Files, so they need to be created manually. The users will however be automatically added to the correct group when the group object is edited (or changes are synchronized). I hope this helps Slight smile.

  • Legend! Thanks, Teemu. That worked exactly as you described.

There's no way I would have worked out how to get the ID from Hubshare myself!!

Cheers and happy holidays to you and the team.
