Difference in ANIO Behavior: File Selection Required in Application but Not in Partner Portal ?

Hello,

We have set up an on-premises M-Files server. The application is installed on the server, and other machines are connected to it. Our license type is Named User, and we are using the M-Files Business Edition.

While setting up AINO in our application, we noticed that it requires us to select a file to proceed. However, in the Partner Portal, we can ask a question in AINO without selecting a file.

Could someone please explain why there is this difference? Is it a configuration issue, or does the AINO feature behave differently between environments?

For reference, I have attached images showing the behavior in both environments.

Thank you for your help!

  • Hi Chandani, happy new year.

Aino comes in two variants. By default it only works on one document or file. If you want it to work on multiple files or all of the content in your vault you need to buy cloud space for Semantic Index. This allows Aino to index the content of multiple files and use that indexed content to answer your questions. You cannot place the index on your local server, it needs to be in the cloud. Thus the need for an additional fee.
