Auto-populate related documents to meta-data property field

Hi,

I have an object type "Requisition" which has relations to several documents collected throughout the acceptance workflow. Related documents also have the requisition object as a meta-data property ("related requisition"). I would like to have links of the related documents showing on the meta-data card of requisition object such as "related invoices" (documents, multi-select). I  also want the property auto-filling when new document's are added. What would be the best way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance!
  • Hi petrusv

I believe using the Managed Properties module of the compliance kit would be the fastest, easiest way for you to set this up to be managed.

I've had something similar set up where system request forms get scanned into the vault, and an employee is selected against the document. The act of selecting the employee against the document then updates the relationship between the employee object and the document, and the document is listed when looking at the employee's metadata.
  • Hi ppickering,

Unfortunately we do not have compliance kit license atm. I guess I have to think of some other option.
  • Hi petrusv

Check out if the module is available on the free licence before you write it off as a solution. I don't know if it is or not (although this thread would suggest it is), so get in touch with your reseller or sales rep for more information.

Just in case, the download for the compliance kit can be found here. There is a link to the free Configuration Accelerator licence on the same page.
  • Managed Properties is included in the free Configuration Accelerators add-on. Download links for the application and the free license above in ppickering's message.
  • We don't have the Compliance kit or it's license and I would like to test out the compliance kit. If I use the license from the ppickering's message to test the compliance kit, does it overrun our own current license? Or can I even use for testing?

Compliance Kit is a set of modules (currently 17 modules altogether) which each have their own functionality, is there something specific you would like to test?

In general, Compliance Kit modules are enabled in the application license, so this does not conflict or overwrite your current server license, if that's your question. The free Configuration Accelerators license available on the Solution Catalog enables six (out of 17) modules so if it's one of those modules you want to test then you can use the free license. If you want to test one of the paid modules (such as PDF Processor or Electronic Signatures) then please contact your M-Files representative to request a trial license.
  • I am interested in Advanced workflows and version control. So I would like to test those. So if I apply the free license, it does not interfere with our current user license?
  • The free license does not include Advanced Workflows or Version Control, it only includes the free modules in the Configuration Accelerators add-on (Managed Properties, Object Creator, Unique Object Enforcement, User Synchronization, Utilities).

To test Advanced Workflows or Version Control, contact your M-Files representative for a trial license.

I mean, Joonas already answered when you asked this the first time above, but no, it does not interfere with server or user licenses. Applications (M-Files add-ons) are licensed separately.
