Norton 2013 Incompatability?

Is anyone having issues using M-Files 8 with Norton Internet Security 2013? I use M-Files with Alibre (3D CAD) and there is a customized Explorer window for the M-Files drive in Alibre.

I recently upgraded from NIS 2012 to 2013 and now my Vault Explorer window looks just like a standard Windows 7 Explorer window. The middle pane in the Vault Explorer window with the view commands is gone and the right hand pane no longer has the Vault configuration.

If I turn off Anti-Virus Auto Protect (AVAP) in NIS 2013, and then open a Vault Explorer window everything looks normal, even after AVAP is turned back on but the switch on/off dance has to be done everytime a Vault Explorer window is loaded.

Another user on the Alibre has reported the same thing. Are you aware of the issue and do you know of a fix?

We are using M-Files 9 and with Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 and have the same issue. I even tested with beta 2 version of 12.1.2 since I am on the beta team and can reproduce this for the beta.

I will let you know what we find out.

As M-Files and Alibre integrates their DLL's into Windows Explorer windows, Norton and some other Anti-virus/Malware softwares identifies this behaviour as a threat and blocks it.

You can add M-Files and Alibre's EXE files to the anti-virus trusted applications list and make them work all the time again. Default location of MFClient.EXE is C:\Program Files\M-Files\\Bin\ and Alibre's EXE is at C:\Program Files\Alibre Design\Program\ folder.

After adding the M-Flies 9 Client to the SEP Trusted list it still fails to work correctly. I also have submitted this info to Symantec for the SEP Beta program for the next release.

Strange. We had the same issue and adding EXEs to the whitelist worked fine for us. You can try adding DLLs too maybe ?

"So I’ll just outline the steps for downgrading your product.

1) Before you start, if the Identity Safe is being used, back up the data before the downgrade using these steps

2) Uninstall the Norton product, you can find the specific steps at the following link:

3)Download the appropriate 2012 version of Norton using the following links

4) Update the Norton product with liveupdate to have the latest virus definition and software patches

Once the issue has been fixed, you can update your product to the 2013 version by going to your Norton product, opening the support menu and selecting "New Version Check"."

Am I correct in understanding that we will have to stay downgraded on NIS 2012 until Symantec provides a fix for M-Files and NIS 2013? I just want to be sure that I understand the above quote.

Also is M-Files 9 also affected by this NIS bug?
