How to update Named Value Manager config?

I have updated a config in the above by removing a class that has been deleted.  I saved the update but I don't know if I also need to click Restart Vault in order for it to fully complete?

I updated the config last week but the entry was still in the named value manager config today which was flagged up as an error when we try and save and existing object in the Client.

Thanks in advance

  • If you mean the standalone "Named Value Manager" application; I would personally say that this isn't something you should use these days.  You can configure Named Value Storage using the Advanced Vault Settings from M-Files Admin.

That said: the answer would be the same for both...

Setting the value in Named Value Storage simply changes the stored value.  It does not force whatever application is using that value to refresh its configuration.  It really depends what value it is you're changing, but often the practical way to force the application to see the new configuration is to restart the vault (or application, possibly).

  • Thanks for your reply Craig and yes despite restarting the vault it didn't update the config for the application.  I have reached out to Support in the meantime and also investigation if there is a better way to achieve this requirement.  I was a bespoke application created for us some years ago

    Thanks again

  • I would reach out to the developers of the application.  I assume that this information is configuration data for the application.  For newer vault applications that can be exposed nicely within M-Files Admin without you having to edit JSON configuration manually yourselves; it'll also even automatically apply when the changes are saved.

  • I would go for a restart on M-Files Server Service or as far as restarting the whole server :) I had some experience with that standalone application in the past and it was always a bit "moody"; asking too much attention and time than it should :)

But as Craig said, I'd first go for a support ticket
