Issues after updating to M-Files Version 25.8.15085.11

After the upgrade, the application is not functioning as expected. Below are the observed problems:

1. Error on Save:
When attempting to save, the following message appears:
“This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy.”
2. Reboot Ineffective:
Restarting the system does not resolve the issue.
3. M Drive Renamed:
The usual “M: Drive” has been renamed to RAM Disk (M:). This change may be linked to the issue.
4. Reinstallation Failed:
Uninstalling M-Files, rebooting, and reinstalling the same version does not resolve the problem.

5. Missing Files – User Impact:
Some previously saved files are missing. These were documents converted into Multi-File documents in M-Files.

Could all this be related to this registry value missing error:

Thanks in advance!

  • Same here – one of our customers is experiencing same issues as matthew after updating to the latest version. Only the Windows 11 PCs are affected. Support stated, “We are not aware of any problems installing M-Files Client on Windows 11.” However, from what I can see in this forum, there are at least three companies reporting similar problems. I will ask our customer for the logs and get back to Support with these. Once I have a solution, I will update here.

  • I found a workaround and probably also the cause of the issue.
M-Files AutoUpdate downloads the full installer but installs only the client.
When I manually downloaded the client-only installer and updated it, there were no problems.

In my case, it helps to uninstall the client and then install a fresh client-only version from the website. However, this is just a workaround.
After that, you can open the client from Windows Explorer via M-Files Drive.
The desktop shortcut does not work either.
