Copy and Paste in Metadata card

Hi All

I have a user that would like to copy items from a property on the metadata card and then paste onto a different card and also to another application.

I can paste items that are in clipboard to metadata card but I am unable to copy anything from the metadata card.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • You can copy and paste the content in each property. Just click in the input field as if you were going to edit the content. By default the present content is selected and you can use copy/paste right away. You can only copy one property at a time.
    If the property has automatic values you will have to mark the content using the mouse. In that case you can paste it into another application but obviously not into another metadata card with the same property since it does not accept direct input.

    After more testing seems this only occurs when importing an Outlook email message into M-Files.

    I can import an existing document into M-Files and then copy and paste the metadata fields as required. But when it is an email you are unable to copy the metadata fields into the clipboard.

  • Sounds strange! How do you import mails? I have thousands of mails in my vault and have never seen that behaviour.
    Have you discussed this with M-Files Support?
  • Still happening in M-Files 2018.
    This looks to be a bug and M-Files Support have raised a ticket on it. ( ID 147093). The more people that report this bug, the more likely it is to get fixed.
