I saw an advanced user's guide but it was for the M-Files desktop version. I am looking if there's one specifically for M-files online deployment
Could you please elaborate what kind of a deployment you mean here? M-Files Desktop is one of the components of the M-Files Online solution so I didn't quite understand your question. M-Files main components and deployment options are described in the user guide: www.m-files.com/.../system_overview.html
Hello dumont,
You can use our Advanced User's Guide with any software deployment system (example SCCM). (Link to the guide: https://kb.cloudvault.m-files.com/Default.aspx?#3ECA226F-7B54-428B-B539-DE443E6134EC/object/37850D76-BA05-42A0-9AC1-B0D45E78D9AC/latest)
The process would go something like this:
1. Determine if you're going to deploy the M-Files settings (and vault connections) via Windows Registry or are you going to deploy them inside the M-Files installer package
If you choose to deploy the settings inside the installer package:
2. Customize M-Files installer package to included wanted settings and vault connections (follow Advanced User's Guide)
3. Prepare the M-Files installer package with package manager software of your choice (if needed) (follow the software providers instructions)
4. Use the customized M-Files installer to distribute and install the the M-Files Client with software deployment system of your choice (follow the software providers instructions)
If you choose to deploy the settings via Windows Registry:
2. Prepare the clean M-Files installer package with package manager software of your choice (if needed) (follow the software providers instructions)
3. Use the clean M-Files installer to distribute and install the the M-Files Client with software deployment system of your choice (follow the software providers instructions)
4. Distribute the M-Files registry settings with GPO or configuration management system of your choice (For GPO, follow Advanced User Guide or follow the software providers instructions)
There is no difference on deploying M-Files Client 2018 versus Online, you can use same instructions for both versions. Note that by default Online Client updates itself once a month. So if you want to control what M-Files Client version users are using, you have to disable Automatic Updates with registry settings.
