Desktop Client best way to find and open document by ID

We are finding that people are pretty good at remembering the ID's of important files, so when they want to direct a person to the document they'll say "get document with ID 1234". But I can't find a good way for a person to actually act upon that information. The ID field doesn't seem to be a field you can search by for some reason. And the sender doesn't want to have to open the client find the document right click to get a hyperlink and then send the link.

Is there some configuration setting or some trick to letting people quickly retrieve documents with a known ID?

  • Agree with Joonas but would like to add that using IDs can be tricky if you have used Replication to move documents or other objects between vaults. This would lead to a situation where Display ID is not same as the Internal ID. That's when users get confused and search results do not always come out as expected.

  • I see, it was not at all apparent that the "Additional Conditions" rectangle was a button leading to a dialog instead of simply referring to the list of properties below it. This would explain why the fields I knew existed would never appear in those drop-downs!
