I'm not at all familiar with Azure Virtual Desktop but it might be worth reading the following documents:

• M-Files and Citrix XenApp
• Enabling Shared Client Cache for M-Files in e.g. Citrix XenApp Environment

While they talk about Citrix XenApp, the same principles apply to other desktop virtualization solutions as well. There are some settings described e.g. for shared client cache which may be relevant to your case (that's an educated guess).
