Indirect metadata in views

Hi community and M-Files,

I am aware that it is not possible to use indirect metadata in views. I remember that Joonas has mentioned this in some of forum entries. I would like to upvote it from our organization. Could someone eventually share the feature request number? Somehow I can not find it any more.

We have a use case where documents are sometimes assigned directly to users (work when using "Assigned To" metadata) but does not work when documents are assigned through Assignment objects. It would be great when we could use "Working Assignment.Assigned To" in a view.

Thanks.

  •  Hi Dejan,

Don't know about the feature request number, but regarding your use case - could you copy properties from Assignment to Document and then set-up a view?

  • Hi Ivan,

I could definitely do something like that but it is a quite a bit of work as we have a lot of workflow states and also quite a few cases where document is assigned directly for user. It would be much easier if this feature would be provided and I am sure that M-Files has it on their roadmap (read it somewhere in forum). It would be much easier just to add to properties "Assigned To" (from document) and "Working Assignment.Assigned To" from current working assignment.

    Hope it explains my drive.
