M-Files IOS App - Offline Content is deleted after a few days

Hello everyone,

We have a problem with the M-Files Mobile IOS application.

The documents marked as offline and downloaded stopped being available offline in the app after a few days.

Is there any option to set the available days of the offline content on the Ipad?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Dari

  • Hi there,

I've pointed this thread out to our mobile app team. Most likely, we will have an answer soon.

  • We haven't encountered this kind of a problem before. Content that user has explicitly marked for offline should remain there and not get removed automatically, so there isn't any settings for that.

Content that is not marked for offline, but just viewed recently does disappear when more than the rolling cache count of other objects has been viewed.

Could you clarify what does "stopped being available" mean in more detail? Does the objects disappear from Offline view? Or does the files inside objects just become unavailable while in offline?

This sounds an issue that we need to try to investigate, so any additional information or details would be very helpful.

  • Hi ,

I have received the following information from my client:

He has downloaded all documents for offline mode.
However, as soon as he wants to edit the document in offline mode, the individual documents are grayed out and he cannot open them. He can only do this if he clicks on all the online items again.
So he would have to re-download all the documents each time before he could start in the office.

I have done some testing on my Ipad, and I think it might be due to the app settings.

I have set the settings as in the image below to make sure everything is updating.

Can you confirm if there is anything else I need to configure?

    Thanks in advance !

    BR,

    Dari

  • Hi ,

In your screenshot you have the "Number of Objects" setting as "Disabled". That will prevent objects being available in offline if user is just opening the objects and not using the menu option "Make Available Offline" to add the objects to Offline view.

If user uses the "Make Available Offline" option, then selected objects should be and should remain available in offline as long as user removes those from there.

Also those "File Size" and "Update Interval" settings apply only to objects that have been added to offline with the "Make Available Offline" menu option.

We don't have any other offline related settings available than those in your screenshot.

  • Hi Jari,

Thanks for your reply, I will test this configuration with the client.

If the problem persists, I will contact support.

    Thanks!
