Outlook doesn't open .mflink-Files

Hi,

we are trying to setup M-Files in a hybrid environment (on-prem M-Files Server, Azure joined Win11 laptops, setup with InTune). In general, this works fine. The only problem we have is that link files (.mflink) do not open M-Files in a Outlook mail. (User gets a mail with .mflink file attached). If we pull the file out to the desktop, everything works fine. Within Outlook nothing happens. The M-Files addin is active and also working fine.

I couldn't find an event in Windows event viewer.

We also use M-File with fully domain joined fat clients and everything works fine there.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

Best regards

Christian

  • Is this issue seen when using desktop Outlook or a browser-based version? Web-based mail clients may have security features which only recognize http:// and https:// links as legitimate links and will strip any other URLs, so M-Files links (m-files://) will not work. If this is the issue then you may want to start using the new style links which are always https:// instead of mailing .mflink attachments: New Link FAQ as of 22.12

If the issue appears in desktop Outlook, then you should at least check the default applications in Windows but if this was the cause then I don't think it would work from the desktop either: M-Files Link Doesn't Open M-Files
