Max file path of 246 character limit

Hello everyone,

is the issue of M-Files not supporting more than 246 characters in the full file path still not fixed?

We've many clients having problems not being able to access files via views because of the file path length.

I also tried doing the following from the link but still the issue persists.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/maximum-file-path-limitation?tabs=powershell

Is there a good solution for this and are we expecting for this behaviour to change?

  • This issue should have been fixed already years ago, please see this support article (which I think contains the same information as the Microsoft page you linked): How to Enable Long Path for M-Files

Make sure that the customer is running the latest M-Files Desktop version so that they have all the latest fixes. If there are still issues and you have double checked the settings in the support article, please contact M-Files Support.
